Invasion of the Triffids : When Will A Decent Copy Be Released On DVD???

Honestly when is someone like Criterion or Image going to release a decent copy of this movie? Criterion released a great DVD of "Fiend Without A Face" (another favorite of mine) but I would think that Triffids was more of a classic and should have been released a long time ago.

I remember PBS running a beautiful, restored widescreen print on TV in New York back in the mid to late 90s and it was the best I've seen this movie look.

I'm shocked that print hasn't been released on DVD since.

I think the rights to the movie are being sorted out. Once that happens, maybe we'll get a cleaned up and fully restored copy on BluRay.

I hope so. I'm waiting!

I've been asking myself this question since DVDs were releasedalmost two decades ago, and I've yet to find a pristine transfer. I was reading a recent article from Ignite-Films, but I've yet to see a product. Perhaps I'm too daft to find it, but I've been waiting, and waiting

Unfortunately, it looks like Ignite Films either rents or sells, movie theater copies of their restored films. Hard to tell, it's not the most informational site. It's frustrating trying to find any useful info on there.

Back in the laserdisc days, Image had released the movie, in a widescreen version. Wonder what happened to that copy?

They also ran a beautifully restored, widescreen version, on PBS in NYC back in the 90s. What happened to that version?
