Single Ladies : Why the poor little rich girl story-line sucks

Okay, seriously they need to lose Racquel's poor little rich girl story line because it is so lame! They even went with the 'was once in love with the handsome stable boy but kept apart' clich lol and I love romance novels so you know it has to be extra corny if a published romance novelist hates it. So what gives? Why the stupid storyline? They couldn't think of anything better?

If it was me, I would have made Racquel Val's younger sister who steps in to take over the store and also to get revenge on the man who broke her sister's heart. Which would have kept Val's ex in the storyline for a while. Maybe she tries to seduce him, lure him in and make him fall for her, and then when she thinks she's gotten her revenge and is ready to strike she realizes that she too has fallen for Val's man. Not only that, she has to keep their friends from finding out that she's falling for him.

That would have been way juicier.

RomanceNovelist let me know what books you've written because I'm interested! What you came up with is a great idea! I would have loved for Raquel to be Val's younger sisterand the revenge is clever, maybe too much for this show but still very interesting.

You know they could have mixed your story with the current story. Maybe Val was the Black sheep of the family because she pursued fashion and her mother (Raquel's mother) did everything in her power to prevent Raquel from turning out the same way, despite how successful Val was. So now that Val has presented Raquel with the opportunity to run the business, she goes against the family. However, I think Raquel's mother should want them to pursue academia instead of a man, maybe the Mom should have been a Judge something. The current argument over running a high end boutique doesn't make sense to me.

I like that angle and yes, the whining about her daughter being a fashionista is silly since most socialites are doing it anyway since they're filthy rich, lacking talent, and basically can't do anything else but dress nice. From Paris Hilton, noveau riche socialites like Nicole Richie, Laura Conrad, and a slew of other kids from wealthy families have kept their families relevant this way.

Maybe they can write a storyline that the mother finally accepts her daughter's profession because people are now talking about the family in a good way. making them relevant again.
