Horror : Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

imdb should have offered that. would keep trolls away to because they'd have to pay for every sock account they'd open

"I don't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die"

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Bad idea. I wouldn't pay to use this message board any more than I'd pay to use CBS All Access, Hulu, or Netflix. Everything on the internet should be free after the cost to your service provider. Consumers are being ripped off enough in this country without adding more ways for the already-rich to steal from everyone.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

hey Yakko, where are you gonna signup?

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I do have a Facebook account. I've been thinking about getting rid of that too. I'm really not interested in any of this anymore. It's all just so much crap.

Why should I be at these places just to be a scapegoat and be laughed at by everyone? Find someone else to blame all your crap on. I'm done. Goodbye and good riddance to ALL of you. None of you are worth the dirt under my feet.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I just haven't decided anything yet. I was thinking I should maybe wait a while. Anyplace I go, the same thing is going to happen. We all know that.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

What will you do? Finally get out of your parent's basement? Feel sunlight for the first time in years? Meet people who you can't mouth off to like this without getting beat up?

You realize pathetic losers like you are the reason this is going away and your actions caused the demise of the very thing that gave your life meaning and purpose. Sitting at a keyboard lashing out at people because you're too much of a coward to live in the real world.

I have a life, yours will sadly end when this goes away. You'll crawl under some other board rock and harass people, but there you'll be banned quicker and have less options and freedom.

This was your whole life, since you were psychotic enough to make topics, sock accounts and everything you've said and done here proves this. I post once or twice, while you, who apparently has no job, can post whenever you please. So look in the mirror at your own sad little life and what you'll do without this to feed your pitiful ego.

Good luck in the real world, don't get killed and you will not be missed.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I never got banned, never had sock accounts, and never harassed people. You've got it all wrong. I had arguments with a few people (the same ones more than once) and disliked movies many people like. That's what provoked idiots like you into blaming me for whatever else was happening.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Fk that jerk Yakko, you don't have to defend yourself against miserable prícks like that...

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Fck you ahole, and is that supposed to be an example of your kind of decorum, shítting on people? Look in the mirror before casting aspersions díckhead...

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Why are you begging another man to give you a chance after he said you and everyone else on here are dirt to him? He clearly has brought on whatever hate he has gotten with his horrible attitude. Leave him be to his own pessimistic and victim like attitude. The world owes him nothing. Have some self-respect.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

you're quite wrong man, I actually support him and I do get a kick out of his curious posts.

I think he's misunderstood but he can also be funny and knows his share of horror trivia and knowledge. He might not be everyone's cup of tea but that's their problem. Yakko is alright in my book.

I would gladly pay that to keep the boards going and it would keep away most of the trolls.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

You know, I'm curious now...are they pulling the same bs over on IMDdpro? Are the people who are already paying going to have their boards yanked too?

Gotta see if my old password for TE is still good. If not, I'll get a new one. Probably be at one or two other places.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I'd pay $9.99 a year. I would probably balk at $9.99 a month. That's a good idea. It would mostly affect the idiots that have 20 sock accounts. Plus if they got "wiped", they'd have to get another name and credit card, not just another email address.

I just the IMDB has done nothing to keep the boards from becoming a cesspool and now they're all out of ideas.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I'd pay $9.99 a month as well. Been coming on here for over 17 years now. It would be worth it (for me at least).

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

It's a good idea. If it's really just a 'small but passionate group' that uses the message boards that's a good way to make it pay for itself and not screw over the people that actually care about the site.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

Would have kept most people away too. This site ain't keeping shît up to snuff enough to starting charging for its use. It also wouldn't help with the whole Amazon site of things.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I actually suggested that the other day on the Contributer Board. I completely don't expect it to happen but I suggested it anyway. A dollar a month is very good value if you use the boards, it would allow users to keep the messageboards and allow IMDb to cash-in at the same time - everyone's a winner basically. Plus it would put off trolls with multiple accounts - you would almost respect them if they were prepared to pay extra for their endeavour!

I also thought that another idea that would have prevented serious trolling would be to only have allowed users the option to report threads once their accounts become five years old. A troll would have to wait five years before they could start reporting threads, as once your account is wiped for bad behaviour, for example, you are back to square one again and have to wait a further five years.

If IMDb had introduced the small fee plus five year delay for thread reporting then most troll activity would have been circumvented overnight. At the very least, trolling could no longer be a fickle activity, as from then on trolls would have to pay extra and/or be extraordinarily patient to carry on as before!

Or at least older than a day, which is a change from the current situation

Seriously, 5 years may be a bit too harsh.

Valid points, otherwise.

Hmmmm

A troll would have to wait five years before they could start reporting threads

There's a way around everything under the sun.

2000 Trolls could create 5,001 sock accounts apiece and let each of them hibernate for five years while just using one of them. And any of those Trolls could sell, lend or loan-out the passwords to other Trolls and reek havoc.

There are always ways to cut-corners or beat any system once you learn how that system works.

Re: Hmmmm

Yes but it would narrow things down. In five years many trolls will have outgrown their trolling, while a few others will maybe have been murdered.

Re: Why not a yearly subscription of $9.99 to use message boards?

I'd be curious how they'd do if they allowed donations to keep the boards going. Just be honest and say that this part of the site isn't really profitable but it does have a dedicated following, and if people donate enough it'll still be cost effective to keep it going.

Sort of like a Patreon kind of thing. I think that might be successful.
