The Patty Duke Show : Finally - Being released on dvd !!!
Re: Finally - Being released on dvd !!!
Yes, Finally!
I just got that e-mail, too, and I was coming to post this.
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Patty-Duke-Season-1/11988
Edit: I just read this again and it says it's 26 episodes from the first season . The first season has 36 episodes, 37 if you include the original pilot.
I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It'sdepressing.

Re: Finally - Being released on dvd !!!
I believe "26" will prove to be a misprint, they would only have four discs to carry 26 shows (like That Girl season five from the same company has 23 episodes on 4 discs)
I hope they include the unaired version of the pilot. I do have it but having it in a professional release would be great.

Re: Finally - Being released on dvd !!!
I e-mailed the guys at TVShowsondvd.com to ask them if this would be a full season release or 26 episodes.
If it's 26 episodes, the studio releasing this might be trying to stretch the 3 seasons out to 4 box sets. Like with the Addams Family DVDs, 2 seasons stretched over 3 box sets.
I'll post back here when I hear back from the guys at TVshowsondvd.com.

What about the music?
Great news, but will the original Sam Ramin music be intact? "The Fugitive" season 2 had the music phagged up. Also, there are 37 episodes in the 1st season including the unaired pilot.
Re: Finally - Being released on dvd !!!
They did update their page on TVshowsondvd.com. It still says 26 episodes, but they have a picture of the box up and it says "Complete First Season".

Edit : TVShowsondvd.com has updated their page with this article again and now it lists 36 episodes for this DVD set, so it is the complete 1st season.

The Patty Duke Show -Another Surprise from Shout! Factory: Season 1 Set Coming in September!
6-disc set brings you the first of the show's 3-season run
5/28/2009
Shout! Factory has been full of surprises lately, and they're very latest is the classic '60s sitcom The Patty Duke Show - Season 1. Created by Sidney Sheldon, who's remembered for his thriller novels but also created I Dream of Jeannie as well as Hart to Hart, the series starred Oscar-winner Patty Duke (The Miracle Worker), Jean Byron, William Schallert, Paul O'Keefe and Eddie Applegate.
The show ran for three seasons, and 26 episodes from the first season are included, with appearances by John Spencer (The West Wing), Charles Nelson Reilly (Hollywood Squares), Margaret Hamilton (The Wizard of Oz), Frankie Avalon (Grease), Jimmy Dean (The Jimmy Dean Show), Roger C. Carmel (Star Trek, Transformers), Estelle Parsons (Roseanne), Marcia Strassman (Welcome Back, Kotter) and many more!
The 6-disc set will arrive on September 29th. Bonus material will be included, but hasn't been finalized yet. Video is full frame, audio is English mono, and English subtitles are said to be included. Pricing, running time and package art haven't been provided so far, but stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, here is the studio description:
First Time On DVD!. Features 26 episodes on a 6-DVD Set. Aired on ABC from 1963-1966. Was in heavy syndication on Nick at Nite from 1988-1993. Currently in syndication on thisTV. Acclaimed author Sidney Sheldon was a series creator and wrote most of its 104 episodes.
The Patty Duke Show aired on ABC beginning September 18, 1963. It featured the misadventures of a pair of identical cousins, Patty Lane - a normal American teenager living in Brooklyn Heights, New York - and Cathy Lane - her Scottish cousin freshly arrived in the United States to finish her secondary schooling. Patty Duke, popular because of her recent Academy Award for playing Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (at the time she was the youngest person to have won an Oscar, for Best Supporting Actress), was chosen for her own self-titled vehicle, which featured her in not one, but two prominent roles.
The show lasted three seasons and was popular with both parents and teenagers. (It didn't hurt that the show featured a handful of then-popular guest stars like Frankie Avalon and Bobby Vinton.) Duke's soft beauty, and the show's more-than-wholesome quality made her an early teenaged pop idol.
