Ian Rankin - Rather be the Devil

Just finished Paul Auster's Book of Illusions, which was a great little book, a really strange, strong narrative, and some of the finest writing concerning fictional films that I've ever read.

I am again rereading "The Weapon Shops of Isher," by A. E. Van Vogt. It's a "fix-up" combining "The See Saw" with "The Weapons Shop" and maybe more. Ahhh, those were the days.

Van Vogt stories are frequently cool for readers who like characters that actively think and reason.
