I wondered that, I gave it up the fact maybe Woodrow was in a drunken mess all the time, and maybe Esther didn't wanna have her church friends there lol

I just always assumed that Esther was always trying to bring religion to Fred because she viewed him as evil sinner. I just thought she was trying to bless the Sanford home.

They showed her spartment when Woody is drunk & she has to get Fred to play him when the adoption lady comes by. Woody is in the bedroom drunk while Fred tries to play Esther's husband.
