The Twilight Zone : From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

Which do you think is worse? Both are terrible but I'd say From Agnes is probably the worst episode of all. There are bad episodes that are at least mildly entertaining, unintentionally funny but both of these are neither, among others. From Agnes is like listening to nails on a chalkboard. What do youbsay?

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

It's definitely not one of my favorites!

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

Oh, I could not stand "With Agnes with love" either. That nerdy guy was the biggest joke and was so annoying. He really looked and talked like a nerd in the stupidest, most stereotypical way. I didn't blame that cutie Millie one bit for rudely dumping his nerdy, irritating *** for that cooler more normal guy. She was nice enough to give him a chance, and he blows it by A) trying to spend thier date sitting with his science book open saying "I was wanting us to discuss the nuetron data theory" or something like that, who cares. B) When she tries to dance with him, he immediately starts talking about the sores on his feet, and C) he opens the champaign bottle only 3 inches from Millie's nose and doesn't expect it to spray all over her? I didn't blame her one tiny bit for blowing him off for that other guy. And then there's the whole stupid plot about the machine that keeps talking to the nerd about Millie instead of science data, and him finally being driven crazy in the stupidest most annoying way. Terrible episode.

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

The thing that makes Agnes more tolerable is unquestionably Wally Cox. Sure, the premise is a tad silly, but Cox makes it work for me.

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

I much prefer "4o'clock" to "Agnes." At least "4 o'clock" has a very good moral. Agnes is just painful. Although I do like Wally Cox. I remember him on game shows in the 1970's.

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

Now that's entirely true - "4 O'clock" is far superior in its content. One of the best things I've ever seen that Wally Cox was in is this, from 1973, at

The plot of the movie is at least vaguely similar to "Long Live Walter Jameson" I think.

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

Nice to see someone sticking up for Wally C.
He was pretty big way back when, ( ala Don Knotts I guess.)
Way before my time, but he had some TV hits. (Mr Peepers?)

When I was little, we played old 78 rpm records from an uncle.
One of them was Wally Cox singing "Tavern on the Town". (He Yodelled!)
The other side was him telling a funny story, stand-up w/o an audience.

That's how I'd heard of him - that, and Hollywood Squares.
Never saw "Agnes" until 1980s reruns.

Sure will miss reading comments.

If I can't be "EtaoinShrdlu" somewhere else, I'll be NDLF8R ( in the elevator ).

BYE!!

[ Oh, I forgot, "Agnes" was pretty bad, but I had to look up "4 o'clock" to even remember what it was about. Even then , I thought it was one of the Hour long ones, so that's no ringing endorsement, either. LOL ]
[ My personal favorite "Worst" TZ ep is "Mr. Dingle, the Strong." ]

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

"Agnes" is horrible in that it doesn't even resemble a TZ episode. I think they were going more for laughs (like in "Cavender is Coming") and failed. Wally Cox was "okay", but the rest of the cast and the storyline were terrible.

"Four O'Clock", while not good, isn't in my bottom 10 or even 20. Theodore Bikel was a marvelous actor, and I also liked Linden Chiles and Phyllis Love. My only real gripe was the cornball ending.

Re: From Agnes With Love vs 4 o'Clock

I like the saying used in this episode and in a few other TZ episodes "He's got a leak in his attic, a mile wide".
