The Room : Favourite underrated line/part?

Favourite underrated line/part?

Anyone have lines or parts of the movie they love but they're never mentioned because they're overshadowed by even more ridiculous stuff? My favourite line in this movie is still to this day "People are very strange these days" I don't know it's just so weird and awkward and strangely poetic. I also love the Bay to Breakers scene. "You going to bay to breakers?" "Nah too many weirdos" "AAAaaahheahhea ai don't maind"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Oh also the classics "DO YOU UNDERSTAHND LAIFE?" (Maybe my second favourite) and "You invited all my friends. Good thinking!" What weird, wholly unnecessary line.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

I laughed for years at the "You invited all my friends" line. Who else was she supposed to invite? Classic.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

It very good thinking on Lisa's part to invite all of Johnny's friends as opposed to his previous birthday parties where she invited all of his enemies. Lisa thinks of everything.

And I agree. A very underrated line.

Same difference. Everybody betrayed him

Bay to Breakers scene was one of the most fantastic scenes in the whole movie. It was an actually OK scene which, to me, felt authentic.

If you ever read The Disaster Artist, you'll find this scene is actually based off a real life situation between Greg and Tommy. Anyway, I love:
"Oh, that was NOT nothing!"
It's a pointless line, but it encapsulates perfectly the insanity of The Room.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

"Is he dead?"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

-The bizarre pseudo fight-scene with Mark and Peter on the roof always gets me. Especially the "dramatic" moment where Mark tries to throw Peter off the roof, and there's a really silly-sounded "suspenseful music stinger."

-"You're going to destroy Johnny! He's VERY SENSITIVE!"

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

LISA [on the phone]: I'm gonna do what I wanna do. What do you think I should do?

"I don't think there's anything extraordinary about me except this passion for the truth."

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Haha, thanks for noticing that part. I never see it in reviews, but when we were watching it, my friend and I kept repeating it, and rewatched it a few times because we thought it was so perfect.

"Jack go to the liquor store and findeth the Jack of Daniels so that ye may be sh*tfaced!"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

When Lisa tells Johnny she already ordered a pizza and he says "You think about everything." Lisa doesn't just think OF everything. She thinks ABOUT everything.

Bucka bucka, Enzo wife yucka.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Claudette: You should marry Johnny. He would be good for you.

Lisa: I guess you're right about that.

Claudette: Well of course I'm right. I KNOW men. I wasn't born yesterday. I'm glad you're listening to your mother. Nobody else listens to me!

Lisa: You're probably right about that, Mom.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

When they're passing the football around and the guy's telling his underwear story, and the other guy comes up and laughs and says, "Underwear? What's that?"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

How about when Denny asks what movie they're going to see and Johnny says "don't plan too much, it may not come out right." Wtf!?! What're they going to do? Just show up at the theater and hope a movie they want to see is playing!

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

See, I love that line because (and I know Tommy wasn't thinking about this and didn't intend this but) it's foreshadowing to what happens to him! "Don't plan too much it may not turn out right" Johnny is planning a wedding, they're having a kid, he's thinking ahead and the irony isit doesn't turn out right for him! Ohhhhhhhhh sooooooo deeeeeeep

Haha I'm looking too far into this

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

How about the guy who I guess is suppose to replace Peter who we never learn the name of, but shows up at Tommy's party and is suddenly suppose to be a part of their close inner circle. He said the following

"I feel like I'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting to go off."
"You are going to destroy Johnny."
and my favorite
"Whenis. the baby! Due?"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Yes, the delivery of "When is the baby due" cracks me up every time

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

I always enjoyed Lisa's "There is no baby" line. What the hell is that supposed to mean anyway? "There is no baby in my uterus?" XD

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

It means that she lied about being pregnant.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Oh my god I also love all of Steven's lines especially "You make me sick!" *beep* rude Steven

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

I actually feel like Steven was the most believable character in the movie. It's like he came from a separate legit movie and is constantly baffled by the bombastic decisions of everyone around him.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Every time they make chicken noises, they don't cluck, they go, "Cheep cheep cheep!"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

"How dare you talk to me like that! You should tell me everything!"

So, Lisa accuses Johnny of domestic abuse which never happened, and he doesn't even confront her properly, he just mentions in passing, "I never hit you. You shouldn't have any secrets from me, I'm your future husband." Please note that he says this after saying, "Did you get a new dress?" because whether or not Lisa got a new garment is more important than her lies, I guess.

So being accused of being a woman-beater is a lesser deal, but when Lisa says, "I'm gonna go upstairs, and wash up, and go to bed", that makes him wildly furious? WTF?? Telling your fiance that you're going to wash up and go to bed is an unacceptable way to talk to them? How dare Lisa suggest that she's tired?!

That and the "DO YOU UNDERSTAND LARF? DO YOU??" What does whether or not Lisa "understands life" got to do with her accusations? Johnny's priorities are F$#@%D UP!

Sometimes you can't convince people there's a fire when their hair is burning.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

LOL, that reminded me of Arrested Development!

In a few minutes, bitch!

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

THIS. This was the moment when I finally cracked up and completely lost myself in laughter and into Wiseau's reality.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

My personal favourite is a toss-up between 'oh hai mawrk' and 'so how ez yor sexlaife?' simply for the butchered pronunciation, and the sheer lack of any passion in either of the lines.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Lisa, I miss you
Mark, I just saw you, what are you talking about?

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

"I'm fed up with this woy-orld." The line delivery always cracks me up. It gets overshadowed by what he says next though.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

After the birthday party scene Lisa calls Mark and Mark's line, like almost all his lines, comes off like a 7 year old mad at his best friend.

"You should leave that jerk, I dont like him anymore". lol

Mark's lines throughout this movie most of the time make absolutely NO since. lol

"Keep your comments in your pocket".

"Drop off the earth".

A random misplaced *beep* during the fight party scene.

Or when Lisa is talking to Mark on the phone and she says "Nobody is going to tell me what to do anymore. Im going to do whatever ever I want", but then ask Mark directly after, "What do you think I should do?" lol

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Mike and Michelle "doing homework" (with chocolate!) in Johnny and Lisa's living room. The look Mike gets on his face is priceless!

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

My favorite line's GOTTA be "the fried chicken was delicious rice"

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

"How is your sex life?"

That was the moment when I completely lost it.

Peter, is your social worker in that horse?

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

I laughed the hardest at Claudette's breast cancer line. Funniest delivery in the whole film. "Keep your stupid comments in your pocket!" is up there too.

This truly is one of the most quotable films of all time, up there with the likes of American Psycho, Commando, Mean Girls and The Big Lebowski.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Am I the only one who noticed that Claudette went to visit her daughter for two minutes flat?

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

That random bloke at the party.

"Lisa looks so hot tonight"

I mean who the *beep* was he? Lol.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

He was a character needed to establish hotness, as no one had pointed it out before and the audience wouldn't know by looking at her.

Also, I believe he says this TO a woman, which I'm sure the lady extra enjoyed.

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

Denny! That is a very dangerous man!

Chocolate is the symbol of love

Re: Favourite underrated line/part?

During the party scene, right before Johnny and Mark fight, there's a woman in the background just having a good ol' conversation with herself.

I'm writing a play. It's a cross between Glee and The Road.
