American Horror Story : OT: La La Land

OT: La La Land

Best things in the world:

1. Roller Coasters
2. La La Land
3. Mac and Cheese
4. American Horror Story

Hopefully that puts things into perspective.

Re: OT: La La Land

If I didn't loathe musicals, I would go see La La Land just because you like it so much, Qrisp.

Re: OT: La La Land

I loathe musicals and romcoms but I just saw the trailer and it looks really cute. Dont tell anyone but I think I'll see this on Qrisp's recommendation for a nice change from my usual violence and gore.

Re: OT: La La Land

If only I could stand Emma Stone too bad Emma Watson dropped out to do Beauty and the Beast.

I tried to join the CIA once, but they found out my parents were married.

Re: OT: La La Land

I watched crazy stupid love again the other night. She;s quite goofy but has a naturalness about her I quite like.

Re: OT: La La Land

There's just something that drives me nuts about her. Plus anyone who will do Woody Allen films and then cry about sexism in Hollywood needs to shut her stupid yap.

I tried to join the CIA once, but they found out my parents were married.

Re: OT: La La Land

I havent seen or read any interviews with her.

Is it her acting or her teeth? I find them a bit distracting. Still, I like her, but I've only seen the one movie I think.

Re: OT: La La Land

From the little I saw she looks quite different in this. Her face just seemed alien. I don't know if that was makeup or if it's because she seems to have lost weight. She is teeny!

Re: OT: La La Land

Love it, Yas. It's a bit like Meldove's avatar.

thanks dani

Re: OT: La La Land

I tried, I really tried, but i Knew I had a problem when I was FFing through the musical numbers. Then I really knew I had a problem when I just wanted to punch Gosling in the throat. That made me feel bad which I don't think is the intention of musicals, so I turned it off. Sorry Qrisp. Just too cheesy cheerful yet bleak for me. I shall return to my usual corner watching violence, gore and drama. I'm just allergic to musicals.

Re: OT: La La Land

.

Re: OT: La La Land

I'll take that as a sign to skip this one. I just really, really hate cheesy musicals. The only two I can stand are The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Grease.

I tried to join the CIA once, but they found out my parents were married.

Re: OT: La La Land

Would you believe I have never seen Grease. I liked Rocky Horror, though. Curry rocked that outfit.

The LLL board is hilarious. Some serious butt hurt that not everyone liked the movie.

Re: OT: La La Land

I'm just tired of hearing about it as if it's the greatest movie that ever existed.

But I'm sure it will win Best Picture. Any movie that loves on Los Angeles and the entertainment industry is bound to get an Oscar.

Re: OT: La La Land

I think it'll probably win as well. Good on the cast and crew if it does but it's just not my thing. I can't believe how violent Gosling's character made me feel LOL. I much prefered him in The Nice Guys.

Re: OT: La La Land

Surprise surprise, StevesI gave it another go after laughing at the bnutthurt on that board and really liked it. I think movies like that really come down to my own mood at the time of viewing.

Re: OT: La La Land

That opening sequence was amazing.

Re: OT: La La Land

I drove over that intersection over and over and over while listening to Another Day of Sun last month when I visited Hollywood

Re: OT: La La Land

Is LA traffic really that bad?

Re: OT: La La Land

The only time you can drive faster than 40 miles per hour is 1am-4am

Re: OT: La La Land

Any wonder people go insane, jump our of their cars, and start singing and dancing.

Re: OT: La La Land

I've seen it four times since last Thursday.

Re: OT: La La Land

omg Prince I knew I could count on you.

I just saw the Northern California premiere last night, and I'm planning to see it again a few times this weekend when it actually premieres for real in SF.

How *beep* amazing was that opening scene? Oh my god.

Re: OT: La La Land

The opening scene, that entire end sequenceIt's probably the most magical movie experience I've had in a really long time. And I wasn't even that excited for it!

Have fun seeing it again! I can confirm that it absolutely holds up on multiple re-watches.

Re: OT: La La Land

Your enthusiasm, my love of musicals, and Emma Stone tells me I ought to see this film.

Re: OT: La La Land

I haven't seen it yet. My son and I are going to see La La Land, I can't wait!

Re: OT: La La Land

Just saw it for the first time in IMAX. Jesus Christ I feel bad for people who haven't seen this yet.

Re: OT: La La Land

I loved it and I normally don't like musicals. It's my third favorite film that I've ever seen, actually.

~The insane are blessed in a beautifully twisted way~

Re: OT: La La Land

It's actually my third favorite too! Behind Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine.

Less than forget. But more than begun.

Re: OT: La La Land

I've never seen Lost In Translation but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my absolute favorite film. Silver Linings Playbook takes second place, with La La Land taking third, as I said.

Re: OT: La La Land

I just saw it and it was pretty good. It's not my favorite this year though. I loved the aesthetics like the set designs, lighting, and camerawork but the story itself was a bit clichd. The score was beautiful and it made it really feel like a classic Hollywood movie. Though I'm still not a huge fan of the musical aspect. The only song that I liked was "City of Stars". Out of all the movies this year I would rank them as:

1. Arrival

2. Fences

3. Hidden Figures

4. Florence Foster Jenkins

5. La La Land

Honorable mentions are Moonlight and Nocturnal Animals. I'm still waiting to see Jackie and Manchester By the Sea.

Re: OT: La La Land

14 iscar nominations. Not sure how but there ya go, Qrisp. Goodluck to the nominees.

Re: OT: La La Land

I'm thinking it's going to get Costume Design, Original Song (City of Stars), Production Design, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture

Less than forget. But more than begun.

Re: OT: La La Land

All involved must be pretty chuffed right now.

Re: OT: La La Land

I kind of wish Amy Adams was nominated instead of Emma Stone.

Re: OT: La La Land

I really liked Emma in this. IU can't recall who Amy is.

Re: OT: La La Land

Doesn't matter, Natalie's winning this year anyway.

Re: OT: La La Land

The LLL board is the most hilarious I've seen on imdb.

Re: OT: La La Land

I guess. She was incredible in Jackie. Saw it last night and it blew me away.

Re: OT: La La Land

I've never seen a board with so many nutcases. It takes the cake. Gabe, you should get up to speed and check it out.

Re: OT: La La Land

Yikes. I guess that's the consequence for making a movie about political figures.
