Re: V
The best is Scary German Guy giving the speech to his son..
"Or we haven't learned a thing."
Both miniseries were good..
The series? Meh It's good, if you like cheese.
The reboot?.. That got boring real quick.

Re: V
Yea, the Jewish grandfather was awesome. Slapping his quisling grandson when he joked about turning in the family.
Re: V
I found it plausible in many respects. For instance, even after it was revealed that the Visitors were reptilians who were out to stick it to the human race, there were still humans who lined up with them.

Re: V
Yeah..
But you believe that there are real reptilians in the world
So this is more of a documentary for you.
That reminds me:
The scene with the one stoned alien was kinda funny.
- "Mousey? Moooousey?"

Re: V
I figured if anyone brought up the mousey, mousey scene, it would be you.
Too bad the homeless guy saw that. I mean.who was going to believe him anyway? Oh well, best not to take chances, yes?

Re: V
Loved it. I always liked Robert Englund (just before his stardom took off as Freddie Krugger) as Willie and his relationship with the Earth woman who operated the roach coach. Also the old Jew Grandpa who had survived the Holocaust. He saw the truth from the very beginning but they thought he was just a daft old nut.

Re: V
He didn't really say anything until quite far into it. He just quietly observed what was going on until the family were in his son's pool house and then challenged his son when the son asked the family to leave. And then of course the kids at the end with the graffiti - "You understand? For Victory!"
Re: V
I've never seen it, which miniseries is best?
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Re: V
Like Vegas Devil I remember two miniseries, and both of them were good, although I cannot seem to find the second one on IMDb. At the end of the first one of the young Visitors is ordered to seduce and impregnate a young human female who was in the high school band that welcomed the Visitors. In the second miniseries she gave birth to..sorry, but nobody likes a spoiler.
Also I remember at the end of the first miniseries earth was conquered and some young punks were spray-painting Visitor propaganda posters. The elderly Jewish man and Holocaust survivor comes along and tells them to do it right, and he grabs the hand holding the spray paint can and paints a V on one of the posters. I loved that.
The weekly series only lasted one season, and it was interesting. It provided more insight into the mindset of the Visitors and why they felt superior to the humans, Although the gloves are off and there is no longer any pretense about seeking a friendly alliance with earth, for some reason the Visitors continue to wear human suits even when they are on their space ships and there are no humans around to see them. It was BS, but it was interesting BS.
Haven't seen the reboot, but I suspect that the Vegas Devil analysis is reliable.

Still, always seemed odd to me the "prejudice" the Visitors generated against scientists, especially with the close parallels the show drew to the Holocaust. A scientist is what you do not what you are. Bigotry against scientists? Ok, I'll find a new job thanks. Just a bit odd.
I get of course why the Visitors would want to generate this kind of prejudice. I even think it may be possible to generate some mistrust of science itself, given the sh/t you sometimes see on Facebook about pharmaceutical companies hiding cures to cancer and cannabis or vitamins curing everything. But against the profession itself? Nah. What does it mean? If someone earned a science degree at uni but then became an accountant, do they get it too?
