Project Runway : Overused statements in Project Runway

Overused statements in Project Runway

"Business in the front, party on the back" (puke)
"You can rock that on the red carpet"
"It didn't transport me" (like where, to the moon?)
"I like the play between the hard and the soft"

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

At the beginning of EVERY Heidi critique "I have to say"

Also Nina's "it's very editorial." I know she's in the magazine industry but there's got to be some other way to critique an outfit.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Overused on this board:

Designers A, B, and C threw designer D under the bus.

Tired of hearing that expression.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"

.threw designer D under the bus."

If it's true, what expression would you prefer? Happens all the time in group challenges! Last season it was the losers trying to say Ashley should be the designer auf'd! They must feel like fools after she won the season! We already discussed Corny being undermined by his team mates, Dexter & Erin! Should have been a real shocker to be eliminated himself in the next challenge!

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Well it's not true. They have to pick someone when asked. You can't really say that they threw someone under the bus when they are all point blank asked. It's different if someone steps forward and starts blaming someone off the bat. And Cornelius was never on a team with Dexter and Nathalia but you can bet Cornelius and Nathalia would have voted out a third person before each other. So please actually pay attention to the show to learn who was on a team before complaining and realize if EVERYONE has to pick someone, then no one is more horrible for doing it than the next person.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Sorry, it was Dexter & Erin! After winning a challenge or 3, Ashley's voice was not being heard! The "mean girls" decided what direction their collection would go and it was a colossal fail!

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

This isn't from a judge but I do get sick of hearing Tim say "Please remember to use the _______ wall thoughtfully."

My least favorite phrases to hear on any season of the show are "This is the avant garde challenge" and "This is an unconventional materials challenge." I know they're doing a TV show and they have to keep showing different things each week (even though they've done 2 or is it 3 unconventional materials challenges this season) but I'd really love to see these designers have a chance to show what they can REALLY do with actual fabric and more than a few hours to throw something together.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Please remember to use the _______ wall thoughtfully."

I hate that, too. The accessories on the wall are the least of the designers' worries.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

That's for the vendor's benefit; an extra bit of advertising we're forced to acknowledge!

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

I know why it's done but it's still annoying. Same as with the hair and makeup people being so prominent the last few seasons and making sure to mention every product in their line. I'm all for capitalism but as a viewer, it gets a little tedious hearing the same shameless plugs every week.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"Please remember to use the _______ wall thoughtfully."
Lol, this. Even worse is when he goes "Please remember to use the accessory wall?" and then pauzes for the contestants to complete his sentence. After four or five times everyone just lets the word "thoughfully" roll off their tongue in the most annoyed way possible

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Zach "It just didn't do anything for me."

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"I like the play between the hard and the soft"
This has got to be the most overused one this season - I think either Nina or Heidi has said it at least once in every single episode. Every time I hear it I want to throw something at the TV.

Another frequent visitor:

"This was not my favorite look on the runway today."

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Maybe both should go judge food because the constant refrain is about the same; "a need for different textures! It was all a little too one note; needs a bit of crunch!"

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

My exact thought too. The 'hard & soft' is the most overused by far!

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Whenever a designer says "my aesthetic" or mutters "my point-of-view as a designer".

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Nia:is it a pretty dress, yes is it the best I've seen from you,no

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

LOL at this one. I agree it is so overused by Nina!

"What time is sunrise?"
"When I open this door."

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Zach's "I've got an eagle eye"

pffffff, maybe it's because the guy just doesn't sit well with me, but that's getting old.

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"What a quiet room!"

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Nina: "It doesn't look polished enough".
Heidi: "I don't like the poopy pants".

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

Mostly from the guest judges: "I would totally wear that."

Zach: "You didn't push yourself hard enough."

Nina: Where is the innovation in this?"

Heidi: "I (suspenseful pause) loooooved it."

All judges: "We have all seen this before."

"What time is sunrise?"
"When I open this door."

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"Juxtaposition"

Re: Overused statements in Project Runway

"I was inspired by" then what they designed had absolutely nothing to do with what they were inspired by.
