Cutter's Way : Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

So, did Cutter's wife kill herself, die by accident, or was she killed? They kept showing the gas fireplace that evening before the fire.

Also, does Bone get away with it in the end? The gun is still in Cutter's hand, so he theoretically could say Cutter did it before he died.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

Both of these are deliberate ambiguities, as indeed is the identity of the original killer.

I have my own personal opinions, but I think it's for everyone to make up their own mind.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

No! You are doing this all wrong. You are supposed to tell us what to think, then call us film ignoramuses for failing to recognize your genius. Then you tell us to go rent Rambo. ;-)

Cheers on a smart post, from a fellow ambiguity lover.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

I think these ambiguous incidents are what make the film work. If every puzzle were solved, then the film wouldn't be as interesting. This film makes you think about and question questionable circumstances. They keep the thriller, paranoia, and suspenseful elements afloat.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

I think the point of the ending is that Bone finbally takes some kind of positive action. In the tradition of "Do something, even if it's wrong."

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

She killed herself.

There is no killer. Cutter was a loser and paranoiac. In Vietnam war rich people lived and poor people died or returned from the war disabled and Cutter was one of them. He was hating from rich people.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

and that's the way you saw it.

There is no one answer, that is one of the beauties of this film.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

There is no killer.
So the chick cut her own throat and then jumped into the trash can? The guy Richard saw was just dumping garden waste?

Now that sounds a great movie that I would love to see. A pity this was not it. If that is what Passer intended, he needed to clear a lot of the brushwood (like the sister's role and the absurdly belated revelation that Cord murdered Swanson's father) to help us come to that conclusion.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

Mo did not kill herself, she was in the house when it was burned down, too drunk to be able to help herself, probably. Of course, Cord killed Valerie’s sister and was trying to kill Bone by burning down the house.

Re: Spoilers -- Cutter's wife, ending

she killed herself. She was tired of Cutter and her life.

Nah, man.

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs
