Making Contact : A rip-off, but cute

A rip-off, but cute

I just recently saw Making Contact for the first time. I remember this grocery store that my mom shopped at when I was kid had this movie in their video rental section, and I would always find myself drawn to the box art of Making Contact, along with several other horror/sci-fi titles that I was never allowed to see as a child. Anyway, it was a delightfully cheesy little gem from the greatest decade of all time, most of the thrill being the references/rip-off of Star Wars, E.T., and Poltergeist. They even cast a Henry Thomas lookalike for the lead role and the music is as if someone cut and pasted elements of Williams, Goldsmith, and Horner. If you love the 80s, particularly those three masterpieces mentioned earlier, I highly recommend it, for a good laugh at least.
