Doogie Howser, M.D. : Statutory Rape

I just saw an episode on The Hub circa 1990 where a Laker girl dates and makes a pass at Doogie.

Wasn't he under 18 around this time? He certainly looked like it.

Or is this one of those many gender double standards on TV. If Doogie were an underage Debra Howser, I can't imagine it going too well if she were to date a 25 year old NBA player.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

Do we ever actually learn how old the girl is? In Cal, there is no statutory rape if the parties involved are within 3 years of age.

I saw this episode tonight and at the beginning when he's reading off her chart, he mentions that she's 21.


And she states that she knows that he's 16.

In states where it would be illegal, it's called a "morals charge". Statutory rape apllies to underage females.
